A Question Grav Bikes
The above scribble demonstrates the current route I'm considering for the Chuhuac bikes. The design is an open-topped, but streamlined affair with the pilot protected behind an aerodynamic fairing. This produces a sleek design but doesn't leave much of the rider exposed.
Now, the issue is that a raptor is a long beasty and any bike design has to account of that neck and tail. I figure the raptors already use their tails for steering, so might have the tail part of the part of the bike work as the steering mechanism. This would leave the raptor's hands free to target and work with that part of his brain that is already keyed in to maneuvering.
It may not make for a wild rider waving guns around and looking about, but it will produce a unique sort of bike that looks different than most out there.

The overall design aesthetic of this line is just brilliant!
ReplyDeleteHowever, and this is a very minor critique, then perhaps it would be better if the windshield was removed to emphasize that - yes - this is indeed a Space Raptor on a Grav Bike zooming across the plains. Instead, the rider could have some sort of cybered-up helmet which is also sleek and aerodynamic as well?
As a concept it definately looks great; but I'd personally prefer that it is clear to onlookers that the thing driving the bike is an alien...
... Ah, but I keep ranting on. Great job, none the less, just a few idle thoughts from a growing Space Raptor enthusiast!
I agree with Torben... " then perhaps it would be better if the windshield was removed to emphasize that - yes - this is indeed a Space Raptor on a Grav Bike zooming across the plains. Instead, the rider could have some sort of cybered-up helmet which is also sleek and aerodynamic as well?

I get to officially weigh as LNG's "Creative Consultant/Designer". I'm with the two chaps above, I want to see the RAPTOR PILOT. It's going to still keep all of that high-tech grav goodness, I would just strip away a good 50% of the bike as is.
ReplyDeleteMaybe have a tail socket "tip" that the tip of his tail would plug into, but have most of the length of his tail exposed, in a channel. Also love the no-windshield idea too and would rather see the head and shoulders of the raptor with a cool helmet (or even goggles). Instead of a hard windshield I would imagine they use a holographic HUD windshield anyway (impossible to do in miniature form).
As for the lower half of the front portion I'd stick one (or a pair) of big intakes, that would really emphasize the SPEED factor if it was sporting a big pair of ram scoops under there.
As for the design shown here. I would explore it more and make it more suped up and more encompassing and turn that design into a type of single seat, inner atmosphere fighter craft. Put a pair of short wings off the back and make it a small patrol jet.
